The MYKITA New York store opening last night was worth leaving the house in 1-billion-degree heat for. We arrived to the super crowded space at 109 Crosby street and were greeted with bubbly, the incredible vocals and instrumentals of rockjazz pianist ELEW, and wall after wall of beautifully designed frames.
No detail of this interior has been overlooked. Everything from the neon tubes that illuminate the building’s original metal pipes along the ceiling to the structure of the shelves and the storage units (old air stewardess trolleys) have been honed to reflect the brand’s unique image.
There was a real emphasis on preserving the building’s original heritage as an Art Deco landmark while creating a vibrant show space for the product. You know those places that are just fun to shop in, even without champagne?
Parting gifts included a rad canvas bag, a deck-of-cards lookbook and a MYKITA silver engraved pendant.
Check out ELEW in action below in this quick video I shot towards the end of the Cranberries’ Zombie:

After MYKITA madness, Raffa and I skipped over to Isola at the Mondrian SoHo for some cranberry-peach bellini action, which was diviiiine (and please note that I only use that phrase when something is actually divine). Was it necessary to also hang around for a garden photo shoot? Probably not, but that’s how we roll.
Posing-in-the-trees aside, be sure to drop by MYKITA on Crosby for a pair of light weight super-engineered German frames and a tour of the shop. You’ll also find them on your summer travel circuit if you’re headed to Berlin, Cartagena, Monterrey, Paris, Tokyo Vienna, or Zurich… B to Z!
Can’t believe it’s Thursday already…
Let’s make our weekdays count before another crazy weekend!
